EVP at MSG Entertainment, Madison Square Garden Sports and MSG Networks

Lawrence Burian - Lawrence J. Burian serves as the EVP, Corporate Development & General Counsel of Madison Square Garden Sports Corp (MSGS), as EVP, Corporate Development of Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp (MSGE) and as General Counsel of MSG Networks Inc (MSGN).

Burian played a core role in the formation of the MSG family of companies, including the 2020 spinoff of MSG Entertainment from MSG Sports, the 2015 spinoff of MSG Sports & Entertainment from MSG Networks and the 2010 spinoff of The Madison Square Garden Company from Cablevision Systems Corporation.

Over the years, Burian has helped lead many of MSG’s most complex and strategic initiatives, including numerous acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, real estate developments and capital markets transactions and financings within the media, sports, entertainment and technology industries.

Burian joined MSG after 10 years of successive leadership growth at Cablevision Systems Corporation, where he similarly played a key role in strategic transactions within the media and telecom space. Previously, Burian was an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell (NY & London), specializing in M&A. In 1995, he clerked for Justice Aharon Barak of the Supreme Court of Israel in Jerusalem.

Burian has served on the boards of numerous MSG portfolio companies, including The Tao Group, Boston Calling Events, Tribeca Enterprises and Fuse Media.

Burian is passionately active in the not-for-profit space. He serves on the Board and the Executive and Audit Committees of The American Society for Yad Vashem, on the Board and Executive Committee of The Garden of Dreams Foundation, on the Board of Trustees of River Spring Health (and the Hebrew Home at Riverdale), the Executive Committee of the UJA-Federation of NY Lawyers’ Division and co-Chair of their Corporate Counsel division, and participates in the AIPAC affiliated National Leadership Network.

Burian holds a JD from Yale Law School and a BA in economics (summa cum laude) from Yeshiva University. He is married and the proud father of four children.
